About
Work In Progress - More versions incoming
2025-11-15 (ongoing): worked on my service but also added new versions:
- Added Recycling Fabrik Multispool snap / insert version
- Added MasterspoolNut as Remix with ring support
- I still try to fiddle around if I could insert it somewhere, would require some benting and I'm not an expert how good that is 😅
- Added Honeycomb versions of the simple version
- Working on my SpoolamentBridge
- Fetch data from Prusament ✔
- Import into Spoolman ✔
2025-11-14: just realized I forgot to upload the in-between stl file → fixed
2025-11-13: first versions for testing
I got the new OpenPrintTag (https://openprinttag.org) and noticed that a sticker is not really useful for re-usability and also hard to put on the old Prusament spool (and others).
Quickly designed a ring version, simply put the sticker on it and then you can either use some double side tape to stick it on or use a version which has snap fit for a specific spool. (more versions will be availble as we go - feel free to remix it or come up with your own design :D)
Not a great designer, I'm a software dev 😅
I used: https://www.printables.com/model/405-prusament-spool-simplified-3d-model as reference.
I'll work on improvements, feedback is welcome 💖
Versions
- Tag: just the sticker as a 1mm thick version for reference
- Tag with Padding, same as Tag, just with 1mm padding so it's easier to stick it on and not over the body
- Simply change the Z height on the model in the slicer to use the thickness you prefer
- Sticker on top (Default Version): 1mm thick ring with Honeycomb and indicators to insert it into a old Prusament Spool (both sides do work!).
- There is a “simple” version - This is a revised version already and better 😅
- Sticker in-between Spool and Ring (on the bottom side): 0.6mm thick with Honeycomb and indicators
- The sticker is better protected this way.
- Fusion360 file
- it's not perfectly clean but should get the job done, width, thickness, etc. are parameters and can be changed (Modify → Change Parameters)
The Honeycomb versions have a tolerance of 0.1mm for the Honeycomb pattern and should fit and snap it.
To remove the Ring, use a flat screw driver and gently start removing it and go around and continue.
For the in-between / bottom version be sure to be extra careful :)
Print Settings
- Nozzle: 0.4
- Layers: 2 (default)
- Layers: 0.2 (STRUCTURAL)
- Material: PETG (PLA should be fine)
- I guess it makes sense to print this in ASA if you want to heat dry your filament, or remove it before doing this to be sure. (time and feedback will tell)
Upcoming
I'll refine it as I see fit and get feedback.
- Support other spools
- Also the snap in honeycomb elements can be improved, especially their position
- Rework in between version + Honeycomb edition
- MMU version
- Bridge service release 🚀
Measurements:
- Inner Diameter: 64mm
- Outer Diameter: 77mm
- Tag Width: 13mm
- The Sticker / Tag itself is around 0.1-0.2mm thick
I'm tired 😴 but from my testing it work from the outside partially and not 100% perfect with my phone, if the tag is closer then it's no issue, bot on the other spool end it might be tricky in the future (probably the reason why the tag is inside of the new spool) - but maybe the hardware is better than my phone and overcome a greater distance.

Bridge Service
Upcoming bridge service for Spoolman and Prusament: https://github.com/TheDelta/SpoolmentBridge
(probably sunday)
- Enter spool id (or scan) and import the spool from prusament into spoolman
- Write spoolman data on and from OpenPrintTag
- Import Spool Data from OctoPrint FilamentManger into Spoolman
It's just a API service, nothing fancy (yet) - I'm pretty sure Prusa will come up with something by their own but eh it's fun. 😅
