The bump spool in my Rockwell Line Trimmer has worn through over time, and I can't find a replacement. I decided to model my own version.

Below is a link to the model on OnShape so you can remix it as you like.

Photos are of my initial PLA test print (Red filament). I printed it as imported with supports everywhere, 10% infill. The supports were painful to remove and left a poor finish, especially on the bottom. I had some text on the bottom layer to indicate line winding direction, but it got obliterated. I made the text bigger and deeper in V2.

The test print fits my line trimmer perfectly, albeit a bit sticky due to the rough finish on the bottom. I have since filed it to smooth it (visible in the image), but haven't tested it.

I've changed the print orientation to sideways with organic supports, and the test print is running.

Final print recommendation is to use PETG with 100% infill, 0.20mm STRUCTURAL, however after the initial test print, PLA should be fine too.

Adding a large metal washer and a flat head bolt through the center of the shaft should also make the bump spool last longer.

UPDATE:
After examining the V2 print - which now has a much nicer bottom surface with clearly visible text, I have made slight adjustments to the 3MF project files. I realized the model is slightly off axis, so I have corrected that, and set the PLA version to 100% infill as well. The organic supports are much easier to remove, and any remaining rough surfaces should not affect the practical usability of the print.

No changes to the STL.

Printer is an original MK4 with CHT high flow 0.4mm nozzle. These are probably my last prints with it before I upgrade it to CORE One.
