T.Ocellus Containment Unit
This project is a labor of love — a 3D-printed containment vessel for the alien eyeball creature T.Ocellus from Alien: Earth. It blends sci-fi storytelling with hands-on craftsmanship, and while it’s not yet perfect, it’s ready for the community to evolve it further.

Design Notes
The T.Ocellus creature model is not mine — feel free to use any version that fits your vision.
(https://www.cgtrader.com/3d-print-models/games-toys/toys/alien-earth-t-ocellus-xeno-embryo-3d-stl-file) I got my file for free. If you look hard enough, you can find a good one for free or minimal cost!
All STEP files are included to allow full customization and improvement.
The iris mechanism adds a dynamic, interactive element to the prop.
The lighting setup is simple but effective — feel free to rewire or upgrade as desired.
This was all designed on Shapr3D since I got the full version as a student.
Build Tips
Heat-set inserts (used for the iris screw) are used to actuate the mechanism when glued in and finished (very last step)
ABS/ASA parts sand beautifully—start coarse and work up to fine grit for a smooth finish. (220-400 grit)
PETG is tougher to sand but great for load-bearing parts (the iris)
Test fit everything before final assembly — tolerances may vary depending on your printer and settings.
Creator’s Note
This project took a long time — not just in printing and assembly, but in trial, error, and iteration. It’s not perfect, but it’s a foundation. I built this to share, not to gatekeep. If you see ways to improve it, please do. If you remix it, I’d love to see it. The sci-fi prop community thrives on collaboration, and this one’s ready for your touch. Thank you all so much! I'm looking forward to my next design!
Happy to answer any questions!
Lastly, all credit and inspiration go to the Alien franchise :)
