Windrad-800

(English-Text is below)

ENGLISH-TEXT

The garden windmill I designed, with 6 curved blades and a diameter of 800mm (that is, 80cm), is an attractive feature for any garden. Thanks to the tail fin, it always turns against the wind. It is the larger sister windmill of my Windmill-560. The Windmill-800 requires a large printer, such as the PrusaXL.

The windmill is well-tested, largely storm-resistant, and very durable due to its stable construction and bearing protection. If something ever breaks, all parts can be easily replaced.

Overall, I have already designed over 30 different windmills with diameters ranging from 20cm to over 200cm - some of these are now being released for reprinting/reproduction.

While printing the parts D01-D13 (see the image with the printed parts), you can get the accessory parts Z01-Z14 (see the image with the accessory parts). These are not expensive and can be found at, for example, a hardware store, on Amazon, or other online retailers.

The two shafts should be ground stainless steel shafts. They fit exactly and without play into the bearings and do not rust.

The 4 bearings are standard bearings and can be obtained practically anywhere. The long screws M6x120mm and M5x140mm can of course also be replaced with cut threaded rods - this is cheaper and the threaded rods can be bought at the hardware store.

For printing, you should place everything on the print bed as shown in the large picture. Except for D05 and D07, everything can be printed without support.

For the wings D04, it is recommended to place a skirt of e.g., 6mm around the print to help the part stick better to the print bed.

All parts are printed in PETG with 4 wall thicknesses (perimeters) and 40% infill using a 0.4mm nozzle. For an even longer lifespan of the wind turbine, the parts can also be printed in ASA. You would then need a printer with an enclosed build chamber to minimize warping of the parts.

The standpipe Z14 should be between 100cm and 200cm long, depending on your preference. It is important that it is firmly driven into the ground or secured with some concrete. The standpipe must be perfectly vertical in the ground; otherwise, the wind turbine will not rotate properly against the wind.

Admittedly, a wind turbine requires a good amount of filament, strong shafts, and bearings – but my motto is perfect functionality, durability, and stability – and nothing comes from nothing!

I wish you lots of fun printing, assembling, and setting up the wind turbine –

You will enjoy it immensely.
