This collection of models is for a fan mount on the Cocoa Press chocolate printer. By increasing airflow across the print you can “cool” the chocolate between layers and achieve better layer adhesion. This is particularly important at the top of prints that come to a point where there is very little time between layers.

To implement this, you will need to print 2 fan mounts (3 parts for each). One fan is mounted on each side of the printer (left and right). For each fan you will need the following additional hardware:

The fan mounts were created by user phillywonka, and was posted to a CocoaPress discord channel. I am resharing it here.

The control box includes 3 switches (off, increase, decrease). You will need to print the top and bottom piece and then assemble the controller. You will also need the following parts:

Here's the connection instructions for the wiring:
Wiring Instructions: Fans (PWM and Tachometer):
Fan 1:
PWM input → Arduino pin 9 (shared with Fan 2)
Tachometer output → Arduino pin 2 Power (VCC) → Appropriate voltage source (e.g., 12V or 5V, depending on fan)
GND → Arduino GND (shared with other components)
Fan 2:
PWM input → Arduino pin 9 (shared with Fan 1)
Tachometer output → Arduino pin 3 Power (VCC) → Same voltage source as Fan 1
GND → Arduino GND Parallel
PWM: Connect both fans’ PWM inputs to pin 9 (e.g., using a breadboard to split the signal). Ensure the Arduino pin can handle the combined current (typically low for PWM signals; check fan specs).
Buttons:
Button A: One pin to Arduino pin 6, other to GND
Button B: One pin to Arduino pin 4, other to GND
Button C: One pin to Arduino pin 5, other to GND
OLED:
SDA → Arduino A4
SCL → Arduino A5
VCC → Arduino 5V (or 3.3V if required)
GND → Arduino GND Common
GND: Use a breadboard GND rail to connect all GND lines (fans, buttons, OLED) to an Arduino GND pin.

And here is the arduino code: https://github.com/nteuscher/cocoapress_fan/blob/039445811c4233decc495923b9861d18692577fc/fan_control_buttons_oled%20v4%202%20fans.txt

Once you connect the fan and controller to power, you are ready to go. Note that the control is independent of the CocoaPress and is managed only through the buttons. I connected it directly to the power of the CocoaPress by attaching to 24V and then stepping down to 12V with this https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01EFUHIAU . The Ardino and fans can run off 12V.
