If your pocket feels like it’s storing a brick instead of a multitool, this frame fixes that problem. It’s designed to replace the stock outer plates on many generic multitools and slim the whole thing down by a noticeable amount. On my 6-tool setup, the thickness dropped from 28 mm to 18 mm. That’s a full centimetre gone without removing any tools or wrecking usability.
What It Does
The frame holds the original tools and axle hardware in place while eliminating the bulky factory plates. The design gives you a rigid, secure structure with minimal added material, keeping everything aligned and functional.
Hardware Needed
You’ll need two M4 x 18 mm countersink bolts.
Thread pitch isn’t important; anything standard works.
Printing Recommendations
This isn’t a demanding print.
Material: PLA works great, but PETG, ABS, ASA, or basically anything else will also do.
Walls: 2–3
Infill: 15%
Supports: None for most printers
Layer height: 0.2 mm is ideal
Assembly
Remove the stock plates, position the multitool parts between the printed frames, slide in the bolts, and tighten until everything moves smoothly but doesn’t wobble. The printed frame is more rigid than it looks, and after a few test openings you’ll get a feel for how tight the bolts should be.
Notes
This model works best for flat, symmetrical multitools, but you can remix it if you need different spacing or bolt lengths. If you make an improved variant, feel free to share it.
