I have an Aero M4E1 Pro Ambidextrous lower and I also live in a restrictive state. I wanted to avoid featureless but couldn't find many compatible AR locked magazine systems besides the Houge FF or CompMag, but I also didn't want to drill my lower and I wanted to use my magazines.
So I threw this together, tried it with PETG and PC-CF 100% infill so far, screws in with an M5x12 countersunk bolt. My stock Aero M4E1 Pro mag release button didn't have a through hole so added 2 buttons, 1 that's roughly milspec but loose in my lower and a larger one which fits my lower pretty well. Long term, something like PC-CF or ASA-CF would probably be best to avoid creep since the threads are part of the model itself.
.f3d files are included in case you need to adjust tolerances for your specific setup (its a bit messy).
Just need to replace stock mag release button with 1 that has a through hole, then you can put the Mag Lock over it and screw it in.
Some random notes:
Prusaslicer does this odd thing, it makes floating bridges where the countersunk head goes but it hasn't been an issue, just makes that spot less pretty. Couldn't fix in Fusion but probably fixable with a negative volume modifier in a slicer if you want that to be cleaned up.
If you split the lower and upper while the bolt is locked back, it will not work. I've been experimenting with a thinner 'blade' on the Mag Lock but it gets pretty thin, not sure if any filament would be rigid enough to function well. Perhaps it could be a custom CNCed part.
That extended tab at the bottom of the Mag Lock is just there to assist with bed adhesion, you can likely remove it if you use brims or believe in your bed adhesion. Tab might help with installation if you need to push down on the Mag Lock.
The Mag Button Large .f3d file is also the MilSpec one, just need to delete the latest offset face modification.
Some LPK have a mag release button with a through hole in case you prefer metal, might make a PLA/PETG Mag Lock ok in the long run.
Disclaimer, I'm just some guy on the internet who wanted a specific set of things, I'm not a gunsmith nor a lawyer so I cannot guarantee this will make a lower compliant with local laws.
Credit where it's due, this response by u/Rid3WithTh3Wind and BulletButton's Patriot Mag Release are what inspired this design. Purchased a Patriot Mag Release but wasn't quite what I wanted.
