A Gift Inside the Tree

A festive little box that’s both a gift and a decoration! This Christmas-tree-shaped container prints in two parts (base and lid) and includes a loop for hanging, so it can go straight onto your real tree — filled with a surprise inside. 🎁 Ideal for small presents, sweets, or secret notes.

The model is available in incremental sizes. The dimensions in mm indicate inside length from stump to tip. 

Printing

The model is intended for PLA. The walls are 1.6 mm thick by default. Be careful if you scale the model in the X or Y direction, as this can make the lid fit too tightly or too loosely.

The Bottom

You can safely scale the bottom part in the Z direction if you wish. As long as you don’t overdo it, the only effect will be a slightly thicker or thinner floor.
Print bottom-down, no supports required. The model is optimised for a 0.4 mm nozzle and 0.2 mm layer height.

The Lid

The lid prints bottom-down as well, and therefore requires supports inside. I was able to remove the supports simply by flexing the part, but you can also slide a flat blade (such as a screwdriver or table knife) under the edge.

To make support removal easier, I used the following settings in PrusaSlicer → Support material:

• Style: Snug

• XY separation between object and support: 300 %

The discs representing baubles on the tree have two different heights, so you can print two colour changes as shown in the picture.

By default, the bauble discs are 0.6 mm and 1.2 mm tall, respectively, giving you three layers of coverage for each colour when printing at 0.2 mm layer height.
