Files included here are two different height units. one small and one tall depending on what you need. Whichever you choose, it goes under the kettles base to lift the whole kettle higher and increase the clearance between the counter/drip tray and the nozzle so you can safely use cups taller than 170mm. An optional retainer print is also provided to allow the stock drip tray to be clipped in place on the printed stand.

Instructions.

Print a stand, put it under the base of the kettle. use kettle. If you want the retainer in use, you can place the stand on it and it will stay in place. If you intend lifting the print/base regularly then glue the retainer in place so it doesn't become a chore constantly having to slip it back in place.

The reason for this print existing?

We recently bought a Breville one cup hot water dispenser I deliberately chose it as it has a 30mm removable drip tray while others often have the drip tray as an integral part of the main unit. My most used cup is a 470ml Contigo luxe. Without the drip tray in place my cup would only go under the nozzle by slightly tipping the cup.  Not an issue for spillage as the 'one cup' only fills my cup to around 3/4 of an inch from the cups top before it cuts off (around 440/450ml of boiled water). But that cup tipping? Nope! That needed addressing. Hence these two risers.

Clearances that this print addressed along with new clearance specs.

As stock, the kettle/heater has a clearance of 170mm from surface to nozzle without the drip tray being in place (a Contigo 470ml luxe cup is 180mm tall with its lid removed). Using the drip tray further reduces surface to nozzle clearance by 30mm bringing it down to only 140mm. I want the drip tray in use so this was obviously an issue for me.

The first height increase stand here (and the one I use myself) is the 69mm version. This changes the clearances to around 230mm without the drip tray, and 200mm with the drip tray fitted. I added slightly more height than necessary to avoid the risk of catching the cup on the nozzle when retrieving it from the kettle. It is an open cup of boiling liquid when all is said and done and limiting any potential for error is always good in my mind. I also added a 43mm riser for those wanting a smaller height increase.

Misc info.

I designed the Stand/Riser to be overly strong. I added cutouts at the top for the kettle base rubber feet to sit in them. For my first version I used simple holes but revised it to slots for the release version to allow easier alignment. If you want the kettle to be held more firmly in place, you can simply drill down a mm or so in the appropriate spots for the feet to slot deeper and have the base of the original base plate sit flat on the surface turning thee rubber feet into location lugs rather than regular rubber feet. I did just that on my first printed version (in the pictures it looks messy where the feet slot for that reason).

The drip tray retainer  was created as a separate piece so you can print it stronger than the rest of the stand if desired. Should you ever break it? It is far easier to print that small part than a full stand long print again. There is a narrow slot in the front of the main stand for the retainer to sit.  Initially I was going to super glue the retainer in place, but I instead added an extension that holds it in place from the rear so no glue is necessary.  I also added a couple of slots at the rear of the stand so you can push any excess cable inside the stand rather than have it trailing around if your kettle is directly by a plug. It's a small aesthetic improvement, but totally optional to use.

I appreciate that the height of the 69mm stand may be too much for some people so I squished it down to create the 43mm as an option. That may make the slots for hiding excess cable too small. I haven't tested the 43mm version and have no intention of doing so. It was only created as an after thought for those who may need it. It still functions as a riser even if the cable hiding thing is not an option. I needed the 69mm version and now it is printed and in use I have already moved on to different projects.

I have added a couple of clear pictures to show the actual kettle/heater that this was designed for. Breville do a number of different shaped designs and there is no model number on the box or my unit to identify it better, but this 'kettle' is particularly easy to identify.

This riser was a one shot deal. I needed it but it is Highly specific and usable by very few people out there. In all honesty, I would be surprised to see even one download. But to me? Very useful, and who knows, maybe somebody out there also needs it so I have shared the files.  Edit:- Somebody actually did download it within an hour of it going live. lol. Whoever it was, thanks for that. Even one person makes the effort of sharing it worthwhile.

My print settings.......

I printed the main stand at 20 percent infill in PLA with 3 walls. I used tree supports to cater for the exterior oblong shapes as they are quite deep. They were added to give a slightly better aesthetic and also to slightly reduce the filament used.   The drip tray retainer piece I printed at 40 percent infill, also 3 walls.

Final thought was that the main stand would likely have been fine at 10 percent infill as I definitely over engineered it and there is zero chance of failure from any normal downward pressure. If anything, I could have reduced the width of the ring considerably more. But I am happy with it as it is.

As stated above though, I needed a stand/riser. I created this to do a job and it works perfectly as intended so there will be no revisions or updates on this one.
