Overview
The prints pictured use Prusament Azure Blue.
3" deep, 6.8" wide, and 1" tall. (76.2mm deep, 172.7mm wide, and 25.4mm tall) Fits 3 wide and 10 deep in a standard card display case. The hexes line up between adjacent racks, as do the contours of the front/back. They’re stackable, and 30 risers require 1 kg of filament.
Because they are so tall with such a small bed contact area, they are prone to shaking loose from the bed. I'd recommend using a full brim with a 0.05 mm gap, which means you'll probably have to peel it off the print, but better that than falling over.
Slicing details
As long as they're close and in the same orientation, on the CORE One I found the prints to be significantly faster per riser than a single one. On the MK3S+ not nearly as much.
I recommend using 0.20 mm layer height and a 0.4 mm nozzle. With a 0.6 mm nozzle the hexes did not look smooth. While it is technically possible to print without a brim, it's necessary for the print to be reliable. The multiple instances feature used in the attached 3MF was added in OrcaSlicer 2.3.2. I found ~24-hour prints to be easiest to keep running as close to constantly as practical, and a count that evenly divides the 30 that can be made from a 1 kg spool allows repeatedly choosing "reprint" instead of finding the appropriate count for whatever's left.
The overhangs at the top of the print are short but may be challenging to get indistinguishable quality. In the sliced files instead of supports I've used a modifier with OrcaSlicer's "make overhangs printable" on the overhangs and low overhang speed, but even so sometimes had to clean up a little. I had planned to increase the bridge flow ratio and increase the external bridge density, but that didn't prove necessary for me to be happy with it. If you don't get good overhangs, consider referencing the below experiments to set them for your filament and printer:
If you wish to change the size or number of hexagons, there is a tile_count parameter in the Fusion 360 source. I've included STEP source as well.
