This tool is used to measure lining thickness and drum wear heavy duty vehicles such as straight trucks, tractors and trailers. The gauge steps are in 32nds of an inch beginning at 28/32nds and going down to 10/32nds. The bottom notch is to measure the wear lip and is .060" which is half of .120" the typical allowed enabling you to quickly approximate total wear without needing to remove the drum.
