This is a calibration tool for shrinkage that i use to calibrate filament shrinkage. It's quick, cheap, and effective.

This is a 100x100x5mm cross that i use for calibrating shrinkage. I have come up with an effective measurement method to get a reliable dimensional accuracy within +-.3mm every time. This calibration is extremely cheap and time effective. This also allows for an accurate measurement as you do not measure the elephants foot; Also allows brim on warp prone materials such as PC.
This method for calibrating shrink works as follows.
Step 1: Understanding that shrinkage shall always be the last thing to calibrate. The shrinkage calibration will only be effective once all other aspects have been calibrated.
Step 2: once everything else has been calibrated, print this model out. Once printed out, wait for the model to cool along with the printer for the most accurate results. For good enough results that are quick, take the build plate out of the printer, then let the model cool on the plate.
DO NOT measure while the model is hot, this will give bad results!
Step 3: Once cooled, measure the along the X and Y axis. Record the results for both of them down. Then take and add the decimal numbers, take the sum of that number and divide by 2. Add the main number back in and that is your shrinkage % to enter on orca slicer.
Example: TPU printing on X1C yielded me 99.26mm and 99.4mm
.4 + .26 = .66.
.66/2 = .33
therefore my shrinkage is 99.33.
Step 4: Once XY shrinkage is done, reprint and find out the new results. Most of the time it should work good and get some really precise prints. If not, try again.
Note: You can use this for calibrating Z height shrinkage as well. I have very mixed results by using this calibration for z axis shrinkage. This calibration is not intended for that, in my experience, flow rate will do far more than z height shrinkage will for getting accurate prints in the Z axis.
