Cat Paw Cookie Cutter
Introduction
Elevate your baking with this adorable
Cat Paw Cookie Cutter! Perfect for creating charming, professional-looking treats, this cutter features a detailed paw print imprint that cat lovers will adore and can be filled with chocolate. Some thought it looked like a dog paw, so you get a two for one :)
Printing
Print Settings
For optimal function, print with the circle side down.
Material
I recommend using PETG filament, as it is generally considered more food-safe than other materials.
Post-Processing
If your print has minor stringing, carefully remove it with a hobby knife and a quick pass from a heat gun or hair dryer.
Hygiene
Thoroughly clean the cutter with warm water and soap before its first use.
Sizing
The dimensions in the file name refer to the dough thickness below the imprint. For example, the 4mm version leaves 4mm of dough under the paw pattern; therefore, roll your dough thicker than 4mm to ensure the imprint is deep and clear.
Baking and Stamping (Classic Butter Cookies / Butterkekse)
Yields a large batch of delicious, sturdy cookies perfect for stamping.
Ingredients:
500g (4 cups) All-purpose flour
300g (1 ¼ cups + 2 tbsp or approx. 2 ¾ sticks) Butter (cold, cubed)
140g (¾ cup) Sugar
2 Egg yolks
Optional but recommended: 100g (3.5 oz or 1/2 cup) Chocolate (for dipping or filling the paw pads)
Instructions:
Mix: Combine the flour, sugar, and cold butter cubes. Rub together with your fingers or a pastry cutter until it resembles fine crumbs.
Bind: Add the egg yolks and knead quickly until a smooth dough forms. Do not overwork the dough.
Chill: Wrap the dough in cling film and let it rest in the fridge for at least 60 minutes (better 12h+).
Roll & Cut: Preheat your oven to 180°C (350°F). Roll the dough out on a floured surface. Aim for about 1 or 2 mm more than the cookie cutter size you chose. Resulting in an imprint with the same depth and a bas cookie thickness of the chosen size. Press your Cat Paw Cutter firmly into the dough and cut + imprint your cookie in one go.
Dough Temperature: Do not let the Dough get to warm, otherwise the cookies might lose a bit of shape. Keep the unused dough in the fridge and maybe do the same with the cut cookies until you have enough for step six.
Bake: Place on a parchment-lined tray and bake for 10–12 minutes or until the edges are just lightly golden.
Decorate: Once cooled, melt the chocolate and use a small spoon or piping bag to fill the paw pad imprints higher than the surface for a "toe bean" effect! I used a chop stick and it worked out quite nicely.
