Printing suggestions:
I used PLA with a 0.2mm layer height to build this. There are 3 files including a knob, knife holder, and spacer. With proper orientation, supports are not required.
Knob - use variable layer height to smooth top of domed top and pause print at the appropriate spot to embed the M6 hex nut. For a 0.2mm layer height, I paused at layer 30. The knob hole is undersized intentionally to act similar to a Nylock nut but with less torque required to turn. This helps maintain setting by avoiding freewheeling of the nib.
Knife holder - Use appropriate thread locker (I used Loctite 243) to prevent inadvertently unscrewing the M6 screw during use. Use a 12mm x 2mm thick rare earth magnet to cover the screw once torqued. I also recommend using zinc plated screw of the appropriate length (I used 50mm long) to avoid the need for gluing the magnet in place. While there is a friction fit for the magnet, the use of a non-stainless steel screw will enhance retention.
Spacer - This device permits adjustability of the knife gib through the full range of the cutter. Holes are provided for 1/8" diameter x 1/8" long rare earth magnets but my experience indicate these are not required.
Parts required are:
2- M6 hex nuts
1- M6 flat head countersunk screw 50 - 60mm long (preferably not stainless steel)
1 - Rare earth magnet 12mm diameter x 2mm thick
2- 1/8" x 1/8" rare earth magnets for spacer (OPTIONAL)
Blue Loctite 243 thread locker (or equivalent)
