Inspired by the need to print something 213mm tall on a printer with max height 210mm, annoyed by the fact that there is clearly a large gap between the lower mounts of the Z-axis and the toolhead, and frustrated that this upload would not work for the MK3S+ and nothing else seemed to be available for the obviously possible improvement, this is a simple revision to the upper and lower Z-axis mounts on the MK3S+ that increases the total height available for the toolhead to use. And it's free - it comes exclusively at the expense of some unused clearance at the bottom and some filament for the parts, both of which you had and weren't using anyways! There may be further gains to obtain, likely on the order of 5-10mm more with some funky engineering at the top end, but I've been conservative in my efforts here and welcome further remixes if others care to do so.
This project requires no extra hard parts, but you will need to insert the upper mount screws from the backside (rather than the front, as with the stock parts). Print in the same materials that you would feel comfortable with for the stock parts; I've used ABS and have had no issues with about 50 hours of test prints.
You will need to flash the printer's firmware (as well as modify your slicer's dimensional bounds). That comes down to amending a single line in Configuration_prusa.h, amending #define Z_MAX_POS to be 220 rather than 210, then compiling the firmware and flashing your printer's control board with the new firmware through PrusaSlicer. I used the older Arduino compiler method, which is deprecated but still usable here at the end of 2025. This process is well covered by others, and here are three links to get you started if you're new to that process:
