These are clamps used to hold the back and front of the violin to the ribs while the glue dries.

There are clamps for the C bouts (purple in the photos), the corners (red), the long curving bouts (blue), and both the neck block and end block (also purple).

Each clamp is comprised of a top and bottom that fit together, and tighten with a bolt and thumb nut. There are two varieties of "top" clamps for the c bout, bout, and corner clamps. The first variety has a flat surface. The second variety has a raised ridge that is intended to press against the purfling without damaging the edge of the plate. Pick which works best for you. All clamps with flat clamp surfaces should have cork sheet glued to them.

Each clamp requires two additional parts to function that you must acquire elsewhere. These are:

  • M4 x 70mm hex socket head cap bolts

  • M4 knurled thumb nuts

It is best to glue the bolts into their slots on the clamp bottoms with a bit of CA glue.

WARNING: Assembling a violin is a delicate operation. You must exercise care and ensure the clamps are appropriate for your application. I am not responsible if you damage your instrument.
