English:
I spent a long time looking for a tool to turn round wooden rods down to a smaller diameter at the ends (in order to then produce threads). Unfortunately, there was nothing affordable to buy. So I made such a tool myself.
It wasn't easy.
The blades used are indexable inserts, measuring 14x14x2mm. However, the heat generated when turning wood causes most 3D-printable materials to melt. PLA and PETG are destroyed within seconds. ASA and ABS also give way quickly. With extrudr Greentec Pro, I was at least able to turn a few centimeters of wood before the hot knives deformed the plastic, which was an improvement. But it was only when I switched to PAHT-CF that I was able to produce a tool that can be used permanently!
Please note: This is not a simple print; you should be familiar with engineering materials. Print as solidly as possible, with at least 6 walls. Print with support (tree), but only in critical areas.
The knives are then fastened with M5x16 countersunk screws and a nut. Tip: If the nut is difficult to insert into the hexagonal hole, first use a longer screw to pull the nut into the hole, then replace the screw with the shorter version.
A 1/2" square drive is used as the drive—these are available for little money from Amazon, for example.
I have only tested the round cutter with beech wood. Other hardwoods should also work, but softwood could cause problems.
Any standard cordless screwdriver should work. Use the slow setting and set the torque limit to the highest value to avoid breaking anything if the bit jams. Try to work at around 100 rpm. If you work too fast, vibrations will occur and the cut edge will not be clean.
I have a parametric drawing for the tool, so I can vary the wood diameter before and after milling, as well as the maximum length. I tapered 35 mm wooden rods to 25 mm at the end so that I could then cut a thread. If you need something else, let me know!

The video shows how I turn a round bar down from a diameter of 35 mm to a diameter of 25 mm over a length of 60 mm. This took just under 5 minutes.
Question: If somebody knows a better name for this tool, please comment!
