This improves weight and comfort on the DAS with the added bonus of having a more "open back" audio solution. Tested with the Koss KSC75, it may also work with the Koss KPH40 which look visually similar to the drivers used in the Beyond's Audio strap.
The assembly is circular so there are some tick marks on the side to indicate the axis of where the driver has the highest degree of rotation. It should help getting the drivers aligned to your ears.
Hardware:
- M3*4*5 threaded heat inserts
- M3*4 button head bolts
Driver link and cap:
Install the heat inserts into the driver link making sure to go a little past bottom face to prevent the insert from rubbing against the metal slide on the DAS. Use a craft knife to smooth out the face and remove any plastic pushed up from the heat insert.
Ideally you want to keep the faces that clamp against the arm as smooth as possible. I used PETG on a smooth PEI build surface to achieve a smooth finish.
Driver Link Pillow:
Use 95A hardness TPU and a 0.6mm nozzle for the "driver link pillow". Print it facing up using "snug" supports with a "top contact Z distance" of 0.2mm. Be careful when removing supports the upper portion is designed to only have a single wall of thickness.
If you can't print TPU:
Try experimenting with some craft foam, melt or cut a hole in a piece and stick it around the driver link stem. Start around with height of 13mm and increase or decrease it depending on how firm/soft the foam is. You want it so the driver doesn't fall into the stem and allows it to freely pivot.
Auto EQ
If you want a little more bass and "punch" similar to what the Valve Index has you can use Equalizer APO to apply an auto EQ preset. I included one for the KSC75s.
