FRC Modular Limelight Mount

I was never able to found a Limelight (LL) Mount that satisfied my needs. I need something strong, configurable, something that can mount both our shiny new LLs, and our old, battle tested LLs. Unable to find what I wanted, I made my own!

My mount is designed to be:

  • Universal

    • LL plate designed to mount models 2, 3, 3g, 3A, and 4

  • Standard Mounting

    • Mounts on a standard 1/2" hole pattern using #10 Screws for easy placement on your robot

  • Configurable

    • Adjust the location and angle of the camera by adjusting a single part

  • Strong

    • By splitting the design into multiple parts, I take advantage of the strongest printing direction

Limelight Plate

  • Variant for universal mounting of LL 2, 3, 4

  • Variant for mounting of LL 3, 4 (allows for a smaller plate if you don't need to mount a LL 2)

  • Included .3mf shows my intended printing orientation to maximize strength

  • This design could be modified to support the Luma P1, since its smaller than the current generation of LLs

  • LL 2, 3, 4 can be mounted using #10 screws.

  • LL 3A, 4 can be mounted using M3 screws

Base Plate

  • Designed to mount on a 1/2" hole pattern

  • Designed to fit flush on the 2" side of 1x2" aluminum tubing

  • Included .3mf shows my intended printing orientation to maximize strength

Angle Struts

  • Adjust the position, angle of the Limelight by designing your own strut (examples included)

  • 1/4" tick, must contain 2x #10 clearance holes 1.5" apart to mount to the Limelight Plate an Base Plate

  • Print flat to maximize strength

  • I can't possibly create the exact strut you need for your robot, but I've included some starting parts.

Material

I'm not a fan of PLA for structural parts, on account of its tendency to shatter. I recommend PETG, ABS, PC, CF Nylon for these parts. These materials handle the forces and impacts of FRC much better than PLA. I've been using PETG, though that has failed in the past.
