I was getting some numbness when cycling. I felt uneven pressure on the outside of my foot, so I figured that an angled shim would help even out the pressure. It worked fairly well. When I finally went in for a professional bike fit, the fitter used the same type of thing. Your mileage may vary. Consulting an experienced bike fitter is highly recommended.
