The Concept I designed this stand because I wanted a clean way to display photos on my desk without the visual weight of a full frame. The goal was to mimic the look of bent lamination (bentwood), keeping the focus entirely on the image.

How it Works The stand relies on the natural flexibility of the printed material. It uses a "U" shape profile that clamps onto a sandwich of two acrylic sheets.

  • Floating Effect: Because the acrylic is clear and the holder is minimal, the photo looks like it's hovering.

  • Friction Fit: There are small internal ribs (crush ribs) inside the slot to ensure the acrylic fits tightly without needing screws or glue.

  • Dual Position: The geometry allows it to stand vertically (Portrait) or rest at an angle (Landscape).

Bill of Materials

  • 2x Acrylic Sheets: A5 Size (150mm x 210mm).

  • Thickness: 2mm each (The slot is designed for a ~4.2mm total stack).

Work in Progress / Requests I am releasing this A5 version first because it's what I needed for my desk. I need your feedback: I am happy to adjust the design for other photo sizes (4x6, 5x7, etc.) or acrylic thicknesses, but only if there is interest.

  • Please leave a comment or post a make if you want a specific size. If the community asks, I'll update the files!

ProTip: Enable Fuzzy Skin in your slicer for a premium, textured look.
