The Pop Up Drainage Emitter in my yard was missing parts....naturally.....reverse engineered it and DFM'd the geometry. During the design phase I took the opportunity to get creative with the attachment. Both pieces are printed individually, without supports and then pressed together. I used Bayer Material Science publication "Snap-Fit Joints For Plastics" as a reference for my custom design. The design is based off a "discontinuous annular snap fit" however, some also refer to it as a cantilever arm for dimensioning purposes. Printed in PCTG and it is in durability testing now, with a particular interest in the snap fit aspect. For fun I printed the cap out of glow in the dark.

** Some of you may say this can't be printed....be advised, the cantilever arms (snap fit portion) CAN be printed on an FDM machine (see timelapse evidence) but you will want to make sure retraction settings, tolerance are all calibrated exceptionally well.
