Odyssey Engine Compartment Cheater Vent Template

Template for cutting cheater vents into the engine compartment hatch.

Print in TPU with at least 5 walls on 0.4 nozzle and at least 4 walls on 0.6 nozzle, these thick walls will prevent you from filing and sanding accidents later on.

Use 2 bottom layers and 4 top layers, print in 0.2mm layer height, 10 to 15 percent rectilinear infill.

Cover the whole cutting area of the hatch with blue painters tape, glue the template in the center of the hatch (be careful, TopRC paint scheme might not be centered so use real centerline) with UHU Por adhesive or other mild contact glue, let the contact glue sit long so it sticks very hard when applying template.  

I pre-bent the template on my central heating system so it already had a very curved form, trust me, this will help very much.

And when the glue is completely set after 2 days, have fun with your dremel and very fine sanding files, the result will be awesome.

The pictures attached are the work in progress, the front 2 are done, the rest needs to be finished still.

Support the center with 3 carbon strips on each other to create strength, I used 1mmx5mm strips.

Some airbrushing the cutouts will be needed to repaint the tiny chipped off parts of gelcoat..
