FlySky FS-G11P Thumb Wheel System
Requirements:
1x M3 countersink ± 10 mm (lock ring)
2x M3 screws to adjust/reduce angle as required (Make sure the screws are nicely flat where they touch the angle bar)
!Recalibrate after any change/screw angle bar adjustment! (as documented in the manual)
Needle file for finish
Features:
Supports decrease of wheel default angle (35 degrees) same as stock wheel
Supports adjustability via lock ring as required
Knurled surface for good grip
Includes different designs with different sizes
Includes a custom toggle knob to increase thumb area when steering
v2 provided just if system is NOT desired for whatever reason
Why use thumb steering?
One hand free to do any other task
More relaxed driving experience once the muscle memory has adapted
Catch your crawler when it falls.
Put one hand in your pocket if it's cold outside.
How to:
Use small custom knob to increase thumb space (the knob fits tighter as the original knob).
Use base wheel to support ring system
Print desired ring(s) as required
Optional: Provide constructive feedback to improve the system
Printing:
Base wheel does NOT require any support or brim (at least mine was working without)
Ring 6, 7, 8 require tree support on little knob (Use brim for the rings if they move while printing)
I used "simple" hyper PLA
Finish:
Make sure the ring on the main wheel has a nice finish to support the lock system as good as possible
Use needle file to finish the toggle knob BEFORE attachment using force
Final thoughts:
The FlySky FS-G11P compared to FS-G7P (https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:7266144) was simpler to create a comfortable thumb system because the wheel axle is close to a comfortable thumb position
Any increase of the thumb piece radius increases the thumb way, which we usually don't want (even if this system allows it to reduce the default 35 degree angle)
Reducing the default 35 degree angle too much might lead to a lack of steering sensitivity when using the wheel to steer (for example, in case of 4 wheel steering)
I prefer the "ThumbRing_8-" version with a slightly reduced wheel angle via adjustment screws. This way the thumb can go the entire way as comfortably as possible while steering via wheel still provides sufficient sensitivity
