After having build the Phrozen Arco Pentashield I wanted to change the inlet position of the Bowdentube, because having to fiddle behind the Pentashield, to feed the filament into the bowden tube, very quickly became an annoyance.

I designed a ball swivel feed-through and a new cover for the top of the Pentashield.
This new cover will let you feed the filament from the top for more convenience. The ball swivel feed-through also moves with the printhead which will benefit stiffer, more brittle, filaments.

When I receive the Chromakit I will make a new version for 4 tubes, but I need to test that setup first before I release the files.

I've made 2 version, the first version will need a pneumatic coupler PC4-M6. It is important to pay attention to what type of coupler you buy, since the PC4-M6 lets you feed the bowden tube completely through the coupler.

The second version just has a 4mm hole through the ball swivel, which you need to feed the bowden tube through. This version however has no means of securing the bowden tube so it might slide out during printing.

Both version of the Ball Swivel are print-in-place. Depending on how well you have calibrated your filament settings, you might need to break the ball free from the feed-through. This is easiest when you either insert the PC4-M6 or a small piece of bowden tube.

The ball swivel needs to be fed through the bottom of the top cover and secured with the M20 nut on the top. The original screws that secured the Perspex cover can be used to secure the new cover plate.

  • 10 top and bottom layers to make it all solid

Hardware needed:
