This month’s supporter exclusive is an ornate hollow Easter egg with a lace-style cutout pattern designed to look like a premium decorative sculpture.
⚠ Important: This model is more difficult to print than my usual statues because of the thin filigree details and many overhangs. Take your time and use supports carefully — the reward is worth it because it looks incredible when finished.
What’s included
STL file(s) for the hollow decorative egg
Ready for FDM and resin printing (best results depend on your setup)
Printing Difficulty (clear + honest)Difficulty: Advanced / Challenging
Why: thin cutouts, delicate walls, many small bridges/overhangs.
Best for: people who already printed detailed models before.FDM (recommended approach)
Nozzle: 0.4 mm (0.25 mm works even better if you have it)S
Layer height: 0.12–0.16 mm
Speed: slow / quality mode
Walls/perimeters: 2–3
Supports: “Tree supports” or organic supports recommended
Orientation: print upright, but test supports around the filigree areas
Bridging: enable bridging settings if available
Material: PLA or PLA+ for clean detail (PETG can string and ruin cutouts)
Tip: If you get stringing, lower temp slightly and increase retraction — the cutouts show stringing instantly.
Resin (often easiest for this model)
Supports: required (medium supports for structure, light supports for details)
Orientation: slight tilt (20–35°) to reduce suction and preserve details
Wash/cure: careful curing to avoid brittleness on thin parts
