This model is for a Spike-able IV Bag Plug for Simulation Education that allows the re-use of pre-filled distilled water saline bags.
The plug fits common IV bags used in Simulation, and we have used it with real 250ml Sodium Chloride 0.9% bags.
Printing Notes & Recommendations:
Use Flex (such as Ninja Flex) or TPU (we used Overture TPU) to get the best sealing capability.
15% infill suggested.
The spike-able bottom layer is .2mm thick.
The two sizes are the same diameter internally (6.2mm in the areas without the rings).
The 10mm version worked better with the Sodium Chloride 0.9% bags that have a longer supply tube.
Tested over 48hrs while hung (250ml and 1000ml bags) with no leaks.
10mm version also works on bags with shorter supply tubes.
Spiking this plug normally requires a similar amount of force to spiking a new fully sealed bag; however, some testers indicated the force may actually be slightly higher than a new fully sealed bag.
You may have to work the plug over the flared end of the bag tubing if it was spiked for a longer time.
These are single use, one image shows what the plug looks like after use.
Plugs can be removed by placing a finger nail over the plug rim and then sliding the plug off the bag.
