Idea
Template for easy creation of your own custom molds. With this template it is very easy and fast to create new molds with different models. Simply add your model of choice and subtract it from the template. Orient the model so its bottom sits directly beneath the integrated funnel.
No further complicated or long CAD sessions required.
Design Features
The design includes perfectly aligned pegs with printing tolerances already taken into account. Once printed, you can simply press the two halves together for a snug, accurate fit, ensuring the mold can’t be misaligned.
For extra holding power, there are two fins on each side that can be used to clamp the halves together. Usually this isn’t necessary, but over time the fit may loosen slightly. If your printer tolerances aren’t perfectly tuned, that’s not an issue either—you can just use clamps. Screwing the halves together is generally not required, but the fins are large enough to drill through and secure with a screw and nut if you prefer. The fins are angled so they can be printed without support.
A chamfer running around the entire mold makes separation after casting very easy: you can safely insert a spatula, screwdriver, or knife blade and gently pry it open. Work your way around the mold a few times to distribute the force evenly for best results.
A funnel is integrated on top of the mold, making it easy to pour in your casting material without additional equipment. It also helps you judge the fill level.
Further Information
The dimensions given in the file name are the width, heigth and depth of the model, e.g. temlplate_80_100_60 means it is 80 mm wide, 100 mm heigh and has a total depth of 60 mm.
I recommend choosing a template that is at least 5 mm larger in each dimension than the model you want to cast. Also keep in mind that the funnel on top of the mold is 20 mm tall in total—subtract this from the overall height to determine the “usable” height for your specific model.
I also included a version to make your very own taper candles.
If you're interested in other sizes and upscaling is not possible to keep certain dimensions, let me know - I can add them later on.

Printing Information
Printing is relatively straightforward. Depending on your model, you can print the mold upright as shown, or lay it flat on its back with your design features facing upward. If you print it flat, I recommend using support structures for the fins.
Depending on what material you want to cast you may vary the print settings. For molding wax I used:
material: PETG
nozzle: 0.4 mm
wall lines: 3
infill: 15%
