This is a mold for use with food-safe silicone to make clear ice. This is NOT an ice mold, it's for MAKING an ice mold.
PLA should NOT be used directly with food or anything you ingest!
You can use this in connection with a standard single cube clear ice system. You could probably even adjust the dimensions of the print for use with any sized insulated mug.
Clear ice is made using directional freezing to freeze the ice from top to bottom. As the ice freezes, any impurities or air bubbles are pushed down to the bottom of the receptacle, resulting in perfectly clear ice every time.
I printed the outside part standing up, and the heart part with variable layer height to get more detail on the heart itself.
The attached pictures are from version 2 of the ice mold-mold. Because this is my first time working with silicone, it took me a few tries to get the form as leak proof as possible. The STLs are of V3. Even in V2, you can see that the ice came out beautifully clear. If you have suggestion or requests for other shapes, let me know in the comments.
