This is a "Quality of Life" modification for the QIDI Q2 Print Head Back Cover (q2喷头后盖).
The Problem: The stock QIDI Q2 cover often gets damaged during failed prints (especially "blobs of doom"). Replacing the original factory part is difficult because it requires significant disassembly of the toolhead and unplugging delicate ribbon cables.
The Solution: I modified the official STEP file provided by QIDI Support to create a 2-part split design.
No Disassembly Required: You do not need to unplug the ribbon cable or remove the breakout board to install this. The two halves simply clamp/assemble around the existing components.
Factory Look: Designed to match the aesthetic and dimensions of the original printer exactly. It looks stock but functions better for maintenance.
Easy Repair: If your cover breaks again, you can swap this one out in minutes.

Open Source / Remix Friendly
I believe in true open hardware. Unlike many creators who only upload mesh files (STL), I always provide the high-quality source files to the community to make remixes and mods easier.

Hardware Required (BOM)
To assemble the split design, you will need the following specific hardware. These are standard components easily sourceable on Amazon or AliExpress.
2x M2 × 4mm Ultrathin Head Bolts
Type: Hex Socket, Ultra Thin Flat Wafer Head Screw.
Note: Standard socket heads may protrude too far; use the "wafer/flat" style for clearance.
2x Brass Heat-Set Insert Nuts
Size: M2 x L2 x OD3 (Inner Diameter 2mm, Length 2mm, Outer Diameter 3mm).
Type: Hot Melt Heat Knurled Embed Injection Copper Insert.
Installation: Use a soldering iron to melt these into the designated holes on the printed part.
Print Instructions
Since this part lives on the hotend inside a heated chamber, PLA will melt.
Material: ASA or ABS (Essential for heat resistance).
Color: White (to match factory look).
Supports: Minimal supports may be required for the interlocking sections.
Infill: 40% (for structural rigidity).
Installation
Prepare: Use a soldering iron to press the M2 brass inserts into the holes on the "bottom" half of the cover.
Remove Old Cover: Remove the broken fragments of your old cover (carefully snip them off if they are trapped by the cable).
Assemble: Place the two new printed halves around the toolhead assembly.
Secure: Screw the two halves together using the M2 x 4mm ultrathin bolts into the brass inserts you just installed.
Finish: Secure the entire assembly to the toolhead using the original QIDI mounting screws.
