These models are unofficial tokens and paraphernalia for Mega Empires, East and West versions.
Most of the city tokens and ships are based either on historical or real buildings and ships, a few are interpretations of drawings or paintings, or made by imagining what a building might have looked like from looking at its ruin. Some are simplified or modified to facilitate 3D printing, e.g. where statues or columns would be too small to print with a 0.4 nozzle. I do not claim to be 100 % historically accurate with everything but I've tried to approximate or represent history and source material where I've managed to find appropriate information.
The unit tokens have a groove on the underside and a ridge on the top to make them stable in a stack. The unit token holders will accommodate both the the round, stackable unit tokens provided here and the original ME square cardboard unit tokens. The symbols printed well with a 0.4 mm nozzle.
To match the original unit token colour scheme from the game, print the top side of the token in the civilization colour and the underside in white. Print the civilization symbol on top in black for the West civilizations (Iberia, Celt, Rome, Hellas, Minoa, Hatti, Assyria, Egypt, Carthage), white for the East civilizations (Nubia, Saba, Persia, Babylon, Parthia, Kushan, Indus, Maurya, Dravidia). The bottom symbol (the 3 amphoras) should have the civilization colour. The barbarian tokens are black with white symbols on both sides.
The dashboard goes on top of the ME civilization cardboard dashboard, and they both go in the tray. Token holders, cities and ships go in the slots in the dashboard. I recommend printing 2 token holders per civilization, one for stock and one for treasury. In storage one holder can be inverted and put on top of the other, with the tokens inside.
The card holders are dimensioned to hold commodity cards sleeved in sleeves with dimensions 70 x 47 mm. There are 2 types of card holder models, one which has pegs and peg slots to hold them together, the other with slots for magnets. The latter was created by Nils-Anders Nøttseter. The card holders with pegs can be printed in 2 pieces or in 3. The 3 piece version is intended for printers with a smaller print bed that therefore can't accommodate the larger 2 piece models.
The tray blocks are meant to be used with the storage boxes. The block goes on top of the tray with all the cities, ships and token holders inside. The tray with the block is then inserted into a slot in the box, and the confined space of the slot should keep the block and tray in place and all the tokens in place inside the block. (See bottom of the text for update on the tray blocks.)
I've uploaded a dashboard with ship slots that have been enlarged to 125 % of the original size. This is to accommodate ships that have been scaled up to 125 %. We found that when playing on the neoprene playing mats sold on the ME website and which are 125 % larger than the boards in the game boxes, the normal ships were a bit small. So those of us playing on the mats wanted to scale up the ships - hence the separate dashboard with space for those ships.
All models except the one piece trays were intended for and were made with PLA filament, a 0.4 mm nozzle and 0.2 mm layer height.
The one piece trays are an alternative to using the two piece tray/dashboard combo with the cardboard dashboards from the ME game boxes. The one piece trays do away with the need for the cardboard dashboard from the game, and are intended for multi-colour prints which require a 0.2 mm nozzle. If the nozzle is bigger, the text for the turn sequence will lose parts of the letters and be hard to read. I would recommend colouring the main body of the tray in the civilization colour; the surfaces in the ship and city slots, as well as those with text, in white; and the text, numbers and ship icons in black. See the images for colour suggestion. The text has been raised 0.2 mm for clarity while the numbers and ship icons have been lowered 0.4 mm to prevent wear from the tokens.
It can be tricky to find filament colour matches for all the civilizations. Dravidia in particular demanded a few tries, it was hard to find an indigo colour that both resembled the Dravidia colour and wasn't so dark that it was easily mistaken for black.
The colours I ended up with were:
From 3dJake:
Assyria: Elegoo PLA Sky Blue
Babylon: eSUN PLA Basic Silver
Carthage: AzureFilm PLA Neon Orange
Celt: AzureFilm PLA Green
Dravidia: nice essentials PLA Basic Dark Blue
Hatti: Elegoo PLA Pink
Hellas: Extrudr PLA NX-2 Matte Yellow
Iberia: Extrudr PLA NX-2 Matte White
Indus: The Filament PLA Circuit Green
Kushan: AzureFilm PLA Red Wine
Maurya: Fiberlogy Matte PLA Red
Minoa: AzureFilm PLA Light Green
Nubia: AzureFilm PLA Lagoon Green
Parthia: AzureFilm PLA Army Green
Persia: eSUN PLA-Basic Grape Purple
Pirates/Barbarians: AzureFilm PLA Matte Black
Rome: AzureFilm PLA Magenta
Saba: AzureFilm PLA Orange
From Clas Ohlson:
Egypt: Clas Ohlson Universal Filament, Natur. Code on the spool: 38-7986-10 B/N: 23061255370. This can be substituted with SUNLU PLA Beige or eSUN PLA-Basic Beige from 3DJake.
Many thanks to Nils-Anders and Arne Jæger for input, testing and feedback.
Happy printing and playing! May your commodity sets fill up and the calamities show you clemency.
EDIT: The tray blocks were somewhat of a tight fit for the storage boxes, I've shaved off a little bit so they should be able to be inserted in the storage boxes smoothly.
EDIT 2: Added some even slimmer storage blocks in case the existing ones are too tight.
EDIT 3: Added civilization-specific ships that can carry tokens, a dashboard with ship slots they will fit in, and a small tray for the ships to have them in reserve when needed, when playing with the non-token-carrying ships but needing the token-carriers occasionally. The small tray fits in the "Sequence of play" section of the dashboards and can be kept there, with the ships, when stored.
