I created a pen-shaped lamp (recalling the style of a famous brand) using a COB-LED instead of the ink reservoir
The lamp is 2:1 in size compared to the usual parameters of a ballpoint pen and corresponds to 8 times the volume (the height of the pen alone is approximately 28 cm)
The lamp consists of a Base that contains the electrical parts, a Body that forms the barrel of the pen, and Caps that are the parts that close the barrel (top and bottom). The Body is printed with transparent PETG in “Vase” mode and I recommend printing it with a 0.8 mm nozzle with “line width” = 1.0 mm: this way you get excellent transparency combined with good robustness
The electronics allow control of luminous intensity.
For the assembly of the electronic part, I created a Base that was designed for Bambu Lab IA005 and IA007 kits: the boards fit into small custom-designed pins that are very precise (some force may be needed, be careful not to break them, or a slight filing)
To keep the COB-LED straight, I used 3 small 2x2 mm round magnets: one is glued into the piece called “LED+5 Stop” (I made 4 versions of this piece at various lengths: the +5 is the one that works best for me) while the other two magnets are fixed to the LED wire using a 1.5 mm “heat shrink tube”. Four screws M3x8 are needed to close the Base at the bottom
