The original baskets of my old poles had, over the years, got cuts and bruises. Some years ago, when one of the baskets had lost 3 of it's five wings, I decided to make new ones while I still had the originals as a pattern. I have skied with these baskets since the winter 2022/2023.

Print Info

  • Nozzle: 0,4 mm

  • Layer: 0,15 mm

  • Perimeters: 3

  • Infill: 100% Rectilinear.

  • Support: From build plate only

Basket filament: NinjaTek NinjaFlex 85A, Snow White
Sleeve filament: add:north PETG Black

It is important to use quite a soft filament. When out in the snow, the baskets become brittle if printed in harder materials. I have tried with some 55D and 95A TPU filaments. Those didn't last even a day in -10ºC.

Multi Material Print

Print the model dynastar_basket_multi.stl.
Load modifier dynastar_sleeve_multi.stl and assign the sleeve filament extruder to it.

Support: Snug, soluble.
Support filament: same as Sleeve filament
Support interface filament: PrimaSelect PVA

Use a soluble filament for the support interface. Both PLA and PETG sticks quite firmly to NinjaFlex.

Post Print Processing

Dissolve the PVA. Remove the basket from the support material.
Put the basket firmly on the pole.

Single Material Print

The bottom side of the basket won't look as nice as when printed with soluble support. Aside from that it works just as well.

Basket

Print the model dynastar_basket_single.stl.

Support: Snug, breakaway.

Sleeve

Print the model dynastar_sleeve_single.stl.

A 5mm skirt on the inside helps to hold the sleeve on the build plate.
Support is not needed when the sleeve is printed upside-down.

Post Print Processing

Rip the support material from the basket.
Insert the sleeve into the basket.
Put the assembled basket firmly on the pole.

Adjustments

If the basket ends up in an undesired position on the pole, you can adjust the basket position by changing Print Settings -> Advanced -> XY Size Compensation.
By increasing XY Size Compensation with 0,1 mm, the basket will sit about 5 mm closer to the tip.

Original Baskets

Here is a side-by-side comparison of the original baskets and my model.

The main difference is that my sleeve is higher and thicker than the original's.
