RPI Cluster Mount – 1515‑Extrusion

A compact, low‑profile bracket system that lets you mount up to 10 Raspberry Pi boards on a pair of standard 1515 × 300 mm aluminum extrusions. The design consists of two printed “feet” (stands) and the RPI mounting brackets that be attached with M3 set‑screws and hex‑nuts. No additional brackets or brackets‑rails are required – the whole assembly is held together with a handful of M3/M2.5 fasteners.

BOM

  • 2 1515 aluminum extrusions (300mm)

  •  20 m3 hex nut (For mounting bracket)

  •  20 m3x8 screw (For mounting bracket)

  • 20 m2.5x8 screw (For RPI Mount)

  • 4 m3x20 screw (For attaching Stand to Aluminum Extrusions)

How It Works

  • The stands are bolted to the two horizontal extrusions with the M3 × 20 mm screws. This creates a stable “track” that keeps the extrusions parallel and at the correct spacing for the Pi brackets.

  • The mounting bracket slides onto the T‑slot of each extrusion. Two M3 hex nuts are first pressed into the slot (≈5 mm apart) to act as anchor points. The bracket is then clamped over the nuts and secured with an M3 × 8 mm screw.

  • Each bracket occupies 30 mm of linear space along the extrusion. With a 300 mm rail you can therefore fit 10 brackets, i.e., a 10‑Pi cluster.

  • Optional hex nuts on the upper side of the rail add extra shear strength when the cluster is fully loaded.
