I recently picked up the Dart Zone Solo, and I've been experimenting with different types of barrels and that's when I stumbled upon the Twist Barrel Adapter made by Paperskeletons3D. I started by adapting the Pepperbox barrel to work with this system, but felt a magazine fed barrel would also be cool as the only one available is Luchathor's Yolo barrel sold on OOD. Since I'd rather print my own things, and it didn't appear I could get the files for his mod anywhere, I made my own. I don't have a way to measure the fps, but I've found it works best with Bamboo half darts. Compatible magazines are 10rnd, 15rnd, and 18rnd angled Talon mags.

Part List:

  • Two 6x2mm round neodymium magnets

  • Two 10x4x2mm rectangular neodymium magnets

  • One Dash 011 O-ring

  • One Spring, the one pictured is 7.3x15mm

  • Any kind of thick lubricant for plastics, I used some Krytox G 205 grease

  • Some CA glue for the magnets, and to secure the plunger in place after adding the O-ring

Instructions are as follows:

Firstly, I printed all the parts in PETG as that is my preferred filament, I'm sure PLA or PLA+ would be fine as well. All parts should be in the proper orientation to print the best possible results, auto generated tree supports is what I used and had no issues. Also, this mod requires the original metal barrel so you'll have to disassemble the OEM barrel and remove the grey plastic piece on the end.

The two rectangular magnets are used for the slide and rail. One gets glued into the hole at the rear of the rail on the main part, the other gets glued into the small recessed area on the underside of the slide. The round magnets should get glued into the small round recessed areas on the front end, this helps keep the slide closed once a dart is loaded.

The O-ring can be stretched over the end of the plunger until it fits into the recess, apply some of the aforementioned lube and insert into the metal barrel to make sure it's not too snug. If it fits well, then it can be inserted into the rear of the main part, will require a bit of force to get the O-ring past the internal stopper. I inserted the plunger, used a pen to push it through, and then dripped the CA glue around the internal edge and left it upright to cure, just be careful not to let any get on the O-ring itself.

For the Mag release, I used a spring that I just had in my tool box, but it's 7.3mm wide and 15mm tall. It's rather stiff, so results may vary with other springs. I tried a few different ones and it seemed like the stiffer the better, but either way if the slide is in the rear position the mag cannot be removed.

I still feel like there are mild issues with having a good seal, some darts just barely leave the barrel for some reason. I think part of it is that some darts will just fall straight out of the barrel, so there's not a good air seal behind them. Bamboo darts seemed to fit the best, can still fall out of the barrel if you try to shake them out, but otherwise stay pretty well.
