For best results, print the wheels flat on the build plate and ensure your printer is dimensionally calibrated for smooth pin-to-slot engagement.
This is a fully functional 4-slot Geneva drive mechanism designed in Fusion 360 and optimized for FDM 3D printing. The Geneva mechanism converts continuous rotation into precise intermittent motion, rotating the driven wheel in fixed 90° steps.
The model includes:
Drive wheel with indexing pin
Geneva wheel (4 slots)
Locking disk for dwell phase
Base plate with correct center spacing
The mechanism demonstrates indexing motion, dwell periods, and mechanical timing, making it ideal for educational purposes, mechanical demonstrations, or desk display models.
All parts are designed with proper tolerances for smooth printing and assembly without supports.
Recommended print settings:
Layer height: 0.2 mm
Infill: 20–40%
3–4 perimeters
PLA recommended
No supports required
This model is great for anyone interested in mechanical design, CAD, or motion mechanisms.
This project is ideal for anyone learning CAD, mechanical design, or motion systems.
