I love the original gun made by DeSteiner (https://www.printables.com/model/1446099-desteiner-colt-m1911-mechanically-working-prop-gun) but I always thought it need a sick ass suppressor. My design was inspired by games like Battlefield 1/V, Hitman and even the movie Sicario. The suppressor is pretty long, with it being slightly longer than the slide, but shorter than the full gun. It isn't bigger than the original iron sights, but does block a bit of sight picture. It's weight is noticeable but doesn't weigh down the front, instead making it feel rather good to hold
There are 3 files to print; the suppressor, a double sided screw, and a threaded barrel piece.
Everything but the barrel is printed at the suggested settings and heights of the original weapon.
The suppressor was printed at an infill of 10%. It adds a bit of weight to the gun that's not overwhelming, but feels nice. The suppressor has internal threading.
The double sided screw is meant to be threaded into the suppressor, then into the barrel of the pistol. When screwing off the suppressor, it may stay in the barrel of the pistol. If this occurs, just unscrew it and put it back into the suppressor (if you want). It is a bit of a pain to unscrew, as I often use my teeth to get it out. Initial prints with the screw integrated into the suppressor broke, meaning the entire suppressor had to be reprinted. It's newer design is made this way for extra strength, but also to be replaced in case of breakage. I, personally, haven't experienced any breakage. I printed this at a 45° angle with tree supports and an XY Size Compensation of -0.5mm (if you have a better idea let me know).
The barrel has been modified with an internal threading to connect the suppressor to the barrel. Other than that no changes have been made to it. It is made to be unnoticeable so that you can attach and take off the barrel with out affecting the original aesthetics of the gun. However, you can keep the screw threaded into the barrel if you prefer that look. I personally printed this at a lower layer height of .12mm, instead of the originally suggested .15mm. This was in an attempt to lower the friction and noise from the barrel and slide touching each other, but this is not a requirement.
Thank you to DeSteiner for making an accurate pistol with very good functionality, love this thing.
