When we think of sensory play, we often think of messy fun with small objects. But sometimes these objects can pose a choking hazard for kids. Use this device to check the safety of pieces you're using for sensory play.
The interior dimensions are based on the US Consumer Product Safety Commission recommendations for size and configuration. The interior basically mimics the geometry of a toddler's windpipe.
If an object fits inside the tube with the slanted bottom, it's a choking hazard. If it sticks out, it's safe.
This model features a fillet at the angled corner, so if something gunky gets in, it's less of a hassle to clean out than commercially available versions, which are overpriced at 10 bucks! On an MK4, this print takes about an hour and 20 grams of filament, about 50 cents' worth.
