The Contraption is a 3D printed case that combines a radio, battery and antenna into a single setup. Mike and Becky over at Ham Radio Duo have created a version for the QMX, and I have made a version for the CFT1, which effectively turns the CFT1 into a handheld pedestrian mobile CW radio!
The version here is designed to pair the CFT1 with a TalentCell 3AH Battery but can be modified to fit other batteries using the provided FreeCAD source files. I have put the main dimensions in a spreadsheet inside the FreeCAD file that can be modified as needed should you wish to experiment!
Best of all, unlike the original version, this one does not need supports! I did this by adding chamfers on certain overhangs and turning the antenna support into an arch shape.
Get the just okay mini 20 meter antenna here.
Print them preferably in PETG, no supports! You will need the following to build one:
