The A-9 Vigilance Interceptor is a sleek, high-performance starfighter from the Star Wars Expanded Universe (Legends). Manufactured by Kuat Drive Yards, it was designed to reclaim the Empire’s space superiority by outclassing the Rebel Alliance's fastest ships, specifically the RZ-1 A-wing.
Breaking away from the traditional spherical cockpit of the TIE series, the A-9 features a slender, angular profile dominated by two large independent stabilizer wings.
Blistering Speed: Its primary advantage is raw velocity. The A-9 was one of the few Imperial ships capable of matching or exceeding the speed of an A-wing in a straight line.
Agility: While highly maneuverable, the ship earned a reputation for being "twitchy" and difficult to handle, requiring elite pilot skills to master its overpowered engines.
