Are the pendulum holders you got with your lights pieces of crap? Do they cause the light to hang crooked? Did they drop your fancy and expensive decorative lightbulbs just after installation? Only me?
Anyway, they function as the picture and common sense would have it. The fastener is fastened with M3 hardware and captive hex nut. M3x20 is what I used and is plenty long enough. The bottom/top hole has space for an M4 washer. The cap is a friction fit.

28/30mm height (without/with cap)
It is designed for a 7mm ish wire, and should probably be good a mm or two larger or smaller, but it is not tested.
For installation, I would recommend not fastening completely to the roof, so it can spin without too much friction. Then alignment with the cable should come easy.
As for materials choices, I went with natural PA6/66 (Sunly Easy PA), which is probably hilarious overkill. But it looks nice. You make your own choices dependent on your trust in your materials, and your aesthetic sense.
