Candy Dispenser for Peanut M&Ms. I wanted one that used an auger to feed the M&Ms (to minimize jamming), used the 62 oz container from Costco and had a separate tray (that I could use to empty the M&Ms into my grandkids hands). I printed all the parts in PLA.

PRINTING INSTRUCTIONS

  1. Body: You will need supports in a couple of specific places.  I included the print file so you can see what I did.

    1. Top surface of the back cutout

    2. Top surface of the circular cutout for the Auger

    3. Inside of the front Auger bearing surface

    4. Underside of the exit lip

  2. Auger: I printed it sitting vertically on the print plate (threaded cylinder at the top) with "snug" supports enabled. I used paint-on supports under the round disc and the underside of the blade. I did NOT want any supports in the threads! I included the print file so you can see what I did.

  3. Bearing Blocks: I included two versions. Both function exactly the same. The "Full" version will be flush with the back of the Body. The "Thin" version leaves a cutout at the back, but uses less material.

  4. Trays: I included two versions. The "Deep Cutout" version works when you DON'T use rubber feet on the bottom of the Body. The "Shallow Cutout: version works better if you use rubber feet.

ASSEMBLY INSTRUCTIONS:

  1. The Auger and the handle are a tight fit. Thread them together once before assembling them in the Body to break them in a little.

  2. Assemble the Auger in the Body from the back with the threaded cylinder in the front bearing hole.

  3. Put the Bearing Block in the back cutout so the Auger post fits into the bearing hole in the Block.

  4. Secure the Block with two #6 x 1.625" long drywall screws.

  5. Thread the Handle into the Auger from the front.

  6. Put rubber feet on the bottom of the Dispenser (if desired).

  7. Turn the Dispenser upside down and screw it onto the M&M Container. Done!

Please note that I do get some bridging of the M&Ms above the opening to the Auger. Shaking the dispenser usually gets everything moving again. I have not had the Auger jam. If something gets stuck, the Auger breaks the offending M&M and delivers it with the others into the tray.

I also wanted to tank two designers for parts I used from their designs. First, I used the Auger and Handle from 3D Tom's design:

I used the plastic container mount from Nikdfish's design:
