We occasionally get rodents in our ceiling space and have tossed bait blocks into the ceiling but this results in a game of rodent footy. Causes an annoying noise during the night until the blocks take effect.
It is designed to use the Pestrol bait - pix below. Similar shaped blocks will probably fit as well.
The baits are held in place with a piece of coat hanger wire and there is a hole to attach a cord to retrieve the unit if tossed into the ceiling space.
