A. Install

⚠ Updated Installation Guide WARNING: You will be making modifications to your hardware. I am not responsible for any damage caused by you to your own 3D printer during this process.

  1. Remove the Y-axis Plastic Cap.
Unscrew and remove the plastic cap on the Y-axis.
Make sure to detach the part on the side where the motor is located.

  2. Disconnect the Mainboard and Wires.
    Carefully detach the mainboard.
Disconnect the hotend wire and the X-axis motor wire, then pull them through to the side panel.

  3. Tidy Up the Remaining Wires.
Neatly guide the Y-axis and Z-axis wires to the back of the printer.

  4. Remove the Z-axis Plastic Cap.
Unscrew and remove the plastic cap on the Z-axis.

  5. Trim the Z-axis cable sleeve: Carefully cut away a small section of the plastic spiral cable protector from the Z-axis wires. Be very careful not to nick the actual wires inside.

  6. Route the wire: Feed the Z-axis wire through the designated hole toward the back of the machine

  7. Seat the assembly: Press the Z-axis assembly into place. Without that extra bulky plastic wrap in the way, it should now sit completely flat and flush against the mount.

  8. Attach to the rail: Insert a wood screw through the hole in the back of the Z-axis and drive it into the matching empty hole on the aluminum extrusion rail to lock it in place.

  9. Y-axis heat-set threaded brass insert. You need to use a hot soldering iron to gently press the brass insert into the Y-axis.

  10. Mount the bed: Once the plastic has cooled and the brass insert is firmly in place, set your "Alternative Bed" on top of the Y-axis.

  11. Bolt it down: Drop a bolt through the top of the Alternative Bed and screw it directly into the brass threads you just installed.

  12. I used the Alternative Bed with clear washers from hardware store used to stop water leaking from the hose. I superglued 2 together to give more surface area to bed.

B. The Build Plate (PEI Sheet)

Suggests a 105mm PEI plate, but personally use a larger 120mm one since was onsale for $2

  • The "Alignment Trick": If you use the 120mm plate, you should align it perfectly with the left edge of the bed. This means the extra 15mm will hang off the right side.

  • Adhesion: If you are printing small parts that won't stay put, a light mist of hairspray on the PEI will help them stick.

  • Maintenance: * Cleaning: Use Isopropyl Alcohol (IPA) and a lint-free cloth to remove oils (fingerprints) from the surface.

C. The Fan Upgrade

Then replaced the stock 3010 fan (a 30mm x 30mm x 10mm fan) with an LED version.

  • Voltage Check: Ensure your new fan is 12V to match the printer's power supply.

  • The "Grill" Modification: Standard fan grill on K10 will have to be removed. You will need to use wire snips or a hobby knife to cut out the plastic grill on the printer's toolhead to allow the new fan to fit and breathe properly.

D. Filament handling

I found the least resistance in my 2 spool dehumidifier worked well with the extruder and ran with tube and do like a reverse Bowden.

E. Slicing

Credit to (Phil Fergusson) for his Orca Slicer File (K10 Profiles with Flexi Rex.3mf) which is good starting point for machine WATCH HIS YOUTUBE  @Phil_Prints "I usually print PLA 200c first layer and change to 190c"

F. SD File Management

  • I installed  a  BTT-SD-TF-Cloud-V1.0to manage the files through wifi, so I created folder with all the gcode and just copy the gcode from that folder to the root of microsd whenever want to change model to print.
