I designed this simple magnetic caddy to keep my most used knitting tools close at hand, especially the ones I grab with one hand when I’m trying to catch a dropped stitch. It also helps corral the tools I always seem to lose in the crevice of my chair at the worst possible time. I’m uploading it on the off chance it’s useful to someone else.

Features:

  • Small bowl for stitch markers or bulb pins

  • Recessed space on the underside of the bowl for a glued 12 mm × 3 mm magnet

  • Holes for three sizes of stitch fixers/repair hooks (Repair Hooks | Utility Tools | KnitPro)

  • Two small holes for interchangeable needle/cable keys

I printed the model with 100% infill to give it a bit of heft. My first prototype was too light, and the whole caddy would lift when I grabbed a marker thanks to the strong magnet.

I’ve found that not all bulb pins are ferrous, so be mindful if you plan to buy a bunch. The Knit Picks ones weren’t, but I lucked out with a massive assortment from Amazon that works with magnets (Amazon.com: Mayboos 300 Pieces Safety Bulb Pins,10 Colors Calabash Crochet Stitch Markers, Metal Safety Pins for Knitting and DIY Project with Storage Box)
