I wanted a scalable system to mount my flute collection on the wall. This fits all my bamboo flutes from an F key Xiao (26mm diameter) to a G dizi (17mm diameter).
There are three parts I used in my version: a hook piece with a slot for mounting, the mounting block, and a hook without the slot. I used the screw-mounted version for the top-level and for the 5th level down. In my case, the weight was not an issue at all but the mid-point mounts provide better rigidity.
Note on the dowels: wooden dowels are not the most consistent so the holes in the part are on the tight side. You'll probably need to sand the ends down to get them to fit snugly.
Hardware Required
Enough 1/2 dowels for the width and quantity you want
#4x1" sheet metal screws (738287675863) depending on how many solid mount points you want
(optional) 7/8" open-ended drywall anchors
(optional) wood stain for dowels
Printing Tips
Print all the hooks flat side down. For the ones with the slot, I used tree supports only on build plate. For the mounting block, I also printed it on its side with tree support so that the angle where it makes contact inside the main piece is smooth instead of made up of layer lines.
The final version shown was printed in bronze Overture PLA Pro on my Ender 3.
