Decided that I could fit a 3kg spool in the Sovol SH02 and I was right.
Super simple mod, no permanent modification. You only have to remove the two knurled pins on the back of the cover and that's it. There is no lock, pin, or any attachment to it. That was intentional so it can be quickly installed and removed. Not like you are going to bungee jump with the dryer anyway. Also designed with the 256mm size in mind.
I suggest a heat resistant filament like ABS/ASA. PETG will not resist creeping under a 3kg load while drying (Especially for the roller right above the heat exit).
Parts needed:
(4x) 608 bearings (only if you want to print directly from the dryer. If not, fake bearings are included in the parts so you can use the frame as a support).
Instructions (it looks way more complicated than it actually is)
Note: Pictures are in order.
Print the parts. No support. Random seams on the rollers.
Remove the (2x) knurled pins from the dryer. Locate the knurled end of the pin and push it out from that side.
Place the inside frame into position. The "Front" mark on the frame goes to the front.
Insert the half pins into the rollers, two half pins per side. The chamfered tip goes into the roller. They are tight but will go in. Push them against a table.
Insert the (4x) 608 bearings into the pins. You can also install the fake bearings if you do not need the "print from the dryer" option.
Drop those badass rollers into the frame.
Place the "Bottom" part on the SH02 frame. The bottom mark goes up front.
Drop the 3kg spool inside.
Install the (4x) "H" corners. These create a nice spacing since, as anyone who owns an SH02 knows, without spacing humidity will stay inside. There is also an optional full size "H" spacer that fully encloses the dryer. This part have one side at 256mm. Check your plate, and make the appropriate adjustement in the profile.
Drop the "Top" part on. The top mark goes up front.
Install the SH02 cover over everything like a crown and fire up that Hell's oven!
