In my A1200 I have a PIStorm32-lite with CM4. I find it convenient to be able to eject the microSD for backups. In developing the trapdoor I am using it went through three stages: plain (to get the dimensions and latch right), for PiStorm32-Lite CM4 (vented and non-vented) and with microSD card access from below (vented and non-vented). I'm using the one in the main picture, with microSD card access and no vents. Then there are the two not pictured: PiStorm32-Lite CM4 with no vents, PiStorm32-Lite CM4 with SD access and vents. 5 variants in all.
Maybe I have fat fingers but I have trouble getting a microSD in or out of the slot on the PiStorm32-Lite board. I usually have to carefully grip it on the sides with needle-nose pliers. Making it accessible from the underside of the trapdoor makes it possible to get in and out without tools.
(One day NVMe will work - when that happens I will probably have to update again. It's really tight where the NVMe drive mounts and those things get very hot - maybe hot enough to require something more resistant to higher temperatures than PLA! I think at that time the trapdoor will have to extend below the case slightly to allow some ventilation. The rubber feet allow about 2.3mm more space. Of course the trapdoor would then be more robust because it would easily be knocked from below. Something for the future.)
The microSD card version uses two heat set M3 brass inserts. These models are all printed in eSun ePLA Matte "Light Khaki" with 0.6 nozzle on Core One. The colour is not quite as white as my old original Commodore case. If you have a very clean or reproduction case try the "Matte White".
Warning on SD card extenders: according to PiStorm and emu68 developers the main cause of support is people using a SD card extender reporting storage corruption. If you choose to use one and have problems try it without the extender before you ask anyone what's up. They would probably prefer I did not publish this but I am aware of the risks and I am not experiencing problems and now you have been warned. It probably has a lot to do with abnormally long ribbon cables routed in noisy environments. If you buy the cheapest 60cm extender from Amazon you will almost certainly have problems. Mine came from AliExpress, is supposedly shielded, and is as short as possible.
For the above reason this design is NONCOMMERCIAL. You may not sell this separately or as part of any kit.
