I made this model because I wanted to start buying refills instead of whole spools but didn't want to buy reusable spools or use 200g of filament to print a reusable spool. I printed mine with a .8mm nozzle, .3mm layer height, 1 perimeter, and 5 percent gyroid infill on a Prusa core one. That used about 80g of filament, the included print file is with a .4mm nozzle, .2mm layer height, 2 perimeters and 5% gyroid infill that uses only 70g of filament.

This 3 part design consists of a main body, a spacer, and the screw top to secure it all together. To put a spool on it lay down the main body, one of the cardboard sides (You can pretty easily take apart a regular cardboard spool to get them), then put in your filament on the spacer aligning the notch, place the filament and spacer on the main body, put on the other piece of cardboard, then the screw top. I only have Overture spools to test with at the moment but as long as the circular cutout in the center of your spool is at least 60mm in diameter it should work. The inner diameter of the main body is 49mm so with my core one I do have to take off the bayoneting spool holder and put it through the outside because the flared end is more than 49mm in size. If your spool holder is smaller than that then it shouldn't pose an issue.
