Grow light stand

I made a stand to hang up pair of grow light bulbs from IKEA I had laying around.

Additional parts and tools needed

  • 12 M3x20mm bolts

  • 12 M3 nuts

  • 2 3mm wood screw (optional)

  • 2 M4 >10mm bolts

  • 150-200cm 18mm wooden dowel rods

  • M4 thread tap

Printing Instructions

Choose the feets that suits your needs / constraints. I designed the long foot first, just to find out that it was too long for the stand to be placed at the window in my house, so I designed a shorter foot to fit my needs.

Materials: PLA, PLA+ or PETG

I used AddNorth X-PLA White for all the parts, but the lamp hook might be better with PETG.

Layer height: All parts 0.2mm, except for the lamp hook that is designed for 0.15mm layer height.

Notes on printing orientation of the parts:

Orient the feets with the closed side of the holes downwards for simplifying the supoort needs. (I don't have muliti material machine, so I usually close the gap between support and model (0-0.1mm), and make the interface layer as dense as possible, insert a pause in the slicer, and use a sharpie to "paint" the top interface layer for easy separation when finished.

Orinent the hooks on the flat side down. The hook is made so it is printed as one part. Turn off elephant foot compensation if overhangs on the first layers doesn't stick well. Afer designing the part, I tought I could just use som Zip-ties and strings to hang the lamp up, so this model is not needed. But you know...

Horizontal bracket upside-down. Like a "L"

Assemly

  • Press the bolts in to the hole, you don't have to remove the layer closing the holes beforehand.

  • For easier tightening of the bolts on the horizontal bracket, use a M4 thread tap in the hole.

  • Use wood screws to prevent the vertical rods from falling out.
